Sappi International's Accounting team plays a central role in ensuring accurate financial operations, strong governance, and seamless global collaboration. The team oversees financial reporting, compliance, treasury administration, accounts payable, and supports key strategic finance programs such as securitization and factoring.

"We are a small team of accounting professionals in the Treasury Department responsible for managing treasury, securitization, factoring, and financial analysis. With a keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence, we consistently deliver timely and accurate reporting, providing valuable insights that drive strategic decision-making.

Role and Responsibilities

  • You will manage core accounting activities and provide high-quality financial reporting in line with IFRS standards. You will be responsible for the weekly administration of Sappi's global securitization program, including data validation, reconciliations, reporting, and coordination with internal teams and external banking partners. You will also oversee factoring operations, ensuring accurate daily, weekly, and monthly runs and supporting all related reporting and administration.
  • You will look after general accounting, including processing entries for Elektra 29 and SPH Factoring, managing intercompany reconciliations, and preparing Actuals and Budget submissions in HFM. You will support treasury operations by reviewing bank uploads, clearing accounts, and validating month-end treasury-related entries.
  • You will manage accounts payable, working closely with the Shared Service Center in Cracow to ensure accurate invoice processing and vendor data management. In addition, you will prepare supporting documentation for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls, internal audits, external audits, and due diligence processes.

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will collaborate closely with colleagues in Brussels, Cracow, and other regions to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
  • 4+ years of experience in accounting, ideally in an international environment
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and Belgian accounting
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with SAP S/4HANA and Hyperion (HFM) is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and organizational discipline
  • Fluent in English; team-oriented and communicative
